DGES Alumnus and award-winning children’s author Dr. Alette Willis recently was awarded a Chancellor’s Fellowship at the University of Edinburgh! These fellowships are seen as very special investments in the future of the university and “are aimed at early career individuals of the highest potential who have begun to establish a reputation for the highest quality research at the forefront of their discipline and who have a commitment to learning and teaching at university level”. Dr. Willis’ academic home will be the School of Health in Social Science.
Her primary research interests are in “how counselling theory and practice can help support people in making transitions to more environmentally-sustainable lifestyles. More specifically, [she] stud[ies] how people use narratives to make sense of their experiences, to give meaning to their lives and to make ethical choices” [from her web page at the School of Health in Social Science, University of Edinburgh]
