DGES Professor Chris Burn wins first ever Yukon North Slope Conservation Award

This award for outstanding contributions by individuals and organizations towards the conservation of wildlife, habitat and traditional Inuvialuit use on the Yukon North Slope was presented to Chris Burn in early October. For this award the Association cited his  work on the impact of climate change on the permafrost terrain of Herschel Island, his close working relationship with Inuvialuit communities, and the book he produced, “Herschel Island Qikiqtaryuk: a natural and cultural history of Yukon’s Arctic Island”
