A new book, called BUILDING INCLUSIVE CITIES: WOMEN’S SAFETY AND THE RIGHT TO THE CITY, was launched at the 2012 World Urban Forum. DGES faculty member Fran Klodawsky is one of the book’s co-editors and contributors. The book draws on two decades of research and grass-roots action on safer cities for women (as well as men), taking a cross-cultural learning perspective drawn from action research projects throughout the world. One of its goals is to translate this research into theoretical conceptualizations to inform the literature on planning and urban management in both developing and developed countries. It is intended to inspire both thought and action.
