DGES PhD candidate receives university-wide award in Latin American Studies

Andrea Carrión, third year PhD candidate, is this year’s recipient of the Norman Pollock Memorial Award for Latin American Studies. The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs presents this award annually to an outstanding student in the area of Canada-Latin America relations or Latin America Development.

Andrea has demonstrated commitment in building linkages across campus and enhancing networks beyond campus to support Latin American studies in the capital region. She has been a member of the organizing committee of two graduate-led conferences held in Ottawa during 2012 and 2013, co-organized between Carleton University, University of Ottawa and the Université du Québec en Outaouais. She is the program coordinator of the 2013 Conference of the Canadian Association of Latin American and Caribbean Studies, to take place in Carleton University in May 2013. Congratulations!
